This week we read the classic book, "The Kissing Hand." We talked about some interesting words we found in the story and related the story to ourselves! We also just started school and some of us found it scary just like Chester the raccoon. To end our week and check our comprehension we created posters for the story. Each group had a different story element; characters, setting, problem, and resolution. The kids' job was to try and create a poster that would make people want to read the book. The kids did amazing! They were so creative in their drawings and they also worked amazingly as a team!
This week in math we have been reviewing how to count. In this game, penny dice, they are to roll the dice and then collect that many pennies from the pile. Whoever has the most pennies at the end wins. They have been learning to work together in partners which is a great life skill and also doing math at the same time! We have had so much fun learning new and remembering old games in math. By the end of first grade we will be mathematicians!
